2. Where is Vets On The Move Foundation located?

3. Who can use Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP)? To qualify, a Veteran must:
- Be at least 35 and no more than 60
- Be unemployed
- Have an other than dishonorable discharge
- Not be eligible for any other VA education benefit program (e.g., the Post-9/11 GI
- Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Assistance)
- Not be in receipt of VA compensation due to unemployability
- Not be enrolled in a federal or state job training program
4. How much does the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program pay?
You may receive up to 12 months of assistance equal to the monthly full time payment rate under the Montgomery GI Bill–Active Duty program. 5. When, where and how can I apply? To complete the application, you will need to know your direct deposit information (bank routing number and account number), the name and location of your school, the program you wish to pursue, and the applicable high demand occupation. 6. Doesn’t VA take care of homeless veterans?
To a certain extent, yes. VA’s specialized homeless programs served more than 92,000 veterans in 2009, which is highly commendable. This still leaves well over 100,000 more veterans, however, who experience homelessness annually and must seek assistance from local government agencies and community- and faith-based service organizations. In its November 2007 "Vital Mission" report, the National Alliance to End Homelessness estimated that up to about half a million veterans have characteristics that put them in danger of homelessness. These veterans may require supportive services outside the scope of most VA homeless programs.
7. I am an unemployed homeless veteran with no current source of income and in need of emergency housing or shelter. Does Vets On The Move Foundation provide assistance?
Vets On The Move Foundation will refer homeless veterans to other local agencies who may accommodate your immediate needs, including supportive services and finding employment opportunities.
8. I am currently employed part-time and a homeless veteran who is seeking immediate temporary housing. How can Vets On The Move Foundation help me?
Vets On The Move Foundation will refer you to the appropriate agency who will assist you for a certain period moving you towards preparation to move into permanent housing. 9. I am a homeless veteran with a disability and in need of emergency housing or shelter. I believe I may have been experiencing discrimination in finding housing due to my disability. Does Vets On The Move Foundation provide assistance? Vets On The Move Foundation's focus is to find housing solutions. However, we have community partners who will refer for you and your family to determine eligibility for additional supportive services and accommodation. We recommend you complete a "Request For Assistance Form" which will be reviewed to determine the most appropriate resources available to assist you and your family. Also, visit the disability.gov website to learn more concerning your rights regarding fair housing and housing discrimination. 10. How can I help or support the Mission of Vets On The Move Foundation? Here are a few ways you may get involved: - Our organization encourages the participation of volunteers who support our mission. You may volunteer your time, talent and skills to assist with special projects or campaigns. - You may also volunteer for AmeriCorps VISTA to fight against poverty, and request your year of service at Vets On The Move Foundation while receiving a modest living allowance, health care and other benefits; and to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. Our family is experiencing difficulty meeting our rent and other monthly utility bills because both my wife and I have been laid-off, seeking employment and have exhausted our Unemployment Insurance Benefits. Can Vets On The Move help us in our emergency? Your family may qualify for being "at risk" of becoming homeless. We recommend you complete a "Request For Assistance Form" which will be reviewed to determine the most appropriate resources available to assist you and your family. I am an unemployed homeless veteran with no current source of income and in need of emergency housing or shelter. I am also in need of medical and eye exam for new eyewear. Does Vets On The Move Foundation provide assistance? Vets On The Move Foundation's focus is to find housing solutions. However, we have community partners who will refer for you and your family to determine eligibility for additional supportive services.
